Meet Your Therapist...

Foundation
During my undergraduate work, I became fascinated with Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. It was then I realized that my first career only satisfied my basic needs and did nothing to help my growth need of self-actualization. While studying psychology as an undergraduate, I remembered going through physical therapy while in high school. I recalled the difference my therapist made in my life at that time. I realized that, in physical therapy, I could have a vocation that allowed personal growth but would also allow me to benefit those in need. As a physical therapist, I feel that having the proper training and education is essential to fulfilling one's potential, while also allowing one to provide exceptional care and service.

Tools to succeed
While my undergraduate studies and continued education in physical therapy school built a solid foundation, I feel it is important to continue adding to my base of knowledge. I recently completed a two-and-a-half-year manual therapy residency program in order to become a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT). The skills that I acquired through this program allow me to help my patients improve functionally, in a speedy and efficient manner.
Giving back
Growing up in a community that was recently affected by Hurricane Katrina, I understand the importance of giving back to those in need. I have been a tutor to grade-school children, worked with students interested in pursuing careers in different health fields and as a volunteer with the San Antonio Ballet. I plan on continuing to give back to this community that gave so willingly to my friends and family from the Gulf Coast.
